And...Exhale.

The postpartum period is a tender time.  I strive to make it easier. When I walk into your home, you don’t have to host, or explain, or pretend you are coping. You simply get to be a family who is cared for. As a postpartum doula, I provide in-home, non-medical support to families in the Kearsarge & Lake Sunapee regions of New Hampshire.

About Me

Hello! I'm Lisa, a DONA international trained postpartum doula located in the Lake Sunapee region of New Hampshire. I'm really happy you are here.

My career as a postpartum doula was born (wink) out of the necessity to make a new start in a new place. I moved to this area from Massachusetts in 2024. Having spent most of my life skiing, hiking, and camping throughout New Hampshire, I feel very lucky to be here permanently.

I am a mom of two boys and now that they have settled into their new home, it’s time to get back to work. Before moving, I had spent the past 9 years doing home visits as a registered dietitian with an Early Intervention Program in Massachusetts. I absolutely LOVED supporting young families and knew I wanted to continue working with this population in this setting. The 'ah ha' moment of how came during a visit to support a long-time friend last summer during their postpartum journey. They live away from family and friends and hired a postpartum doula. Insert lightning strike. Quickly followed by googling 'how to become a postpartum doula.' I found DONA international and the rest as the say is herstory.

What sets me apart from most postpartum doulas, is my additional career as a registered dietitian and the 17+ years of pediatric nutrition experience that I bring into your home. I have in-depth knowledge of your baby's nutritional needs, as well as the nutritional needs of the birthing parent to aid recovery, ensuring you and your little one are off to a great start!

TESTIMONIALS

Having Lisa with us to help care for our 6-week-old was the best! She walked through our door and immediately took charge in the most reassuring way. She was calm, warm, and not only completely non-judgmental, but very reassuring about all the things we were doing right (which felt like zero things as first time parents, so it was nice to have some reassurance!). As a registered dietitian, her expertise in infant nutrition was invaluable, especially when it came to feeding and helping us feel more confident about how to manage our little guy's tummy issues. With Lisa on shift, we could actually rest. We wanted to keep her forever! If you're a first-time parent feeling overwhelmed, don't hesitate. Lisa is a pro.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please contact me at lisa.greenman@supportisontheway.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

I have been a registered dietitian since 2005 and have worked in pediatrics since 2008.  I have done both inpatient and outpatient counseling with families in the hospital setting and then in 2015 I began working for Thom Worcester Early Intervention Program in Massachusetts. This is where I fell in love with working with young children (birth to 3yrs of age) and their families in the home setting.  I worked for Thom right up until moving to New Hampshire in 2024.

I also have two school-age children of my own and have been an unofficial postpartum doula for many of my close friends over the years.  Most recently flying to Chicago in August of 2025 for a week to support a friend of mine after the birth of her first baby.  This experience became the catalyst for becoming a postpartum doula.

I recently completed the DONA international postpartum doula training in March of 2026 and am working toward certification.  Because I am working toward my certification, I am offering 3 families $100 off any package in exchange for feedback that will be shared with my certification reviewers.

Yes, I have liability insurance. Documentation is available upon request.

In addition to my 17+ years of infant and child nutrition counseling experience, I've recently completed the DONA lactation support training. I breastfed both of my children for the first year, as well as supplemented with formula.  A fed baby is a happy baby and I will support parents and babies through whatever feeding journey works best for them. I have a wealth of knowledge regarding the numerous infant formulas available, as well as many experienced lactation consultant colleagues to refer you to if needed.

I recently underwent a criminal background check and was fingerprinted by the Kearsarge Regional School District in 2025.

No two visits are the same, as support often looks different visit to visit and family to family, and that's totally normal.  I always confirm each visit the evening before and send a text about an hour beforehand to see if you need me to pick anything up on my way to your home.  Once I arrive, I typically check-in/debrief since our last visit.  It's important to see how you are feeling emotionally and what you need most that day.  And then I'm off to support, whether that's enabling you to shower or rest or eat. Throw in a load of laundry, do up some dishes, food prep, change a diaper, make a bottle, refill your water or nursing station, or just sit and talk through any questions or concerns, and listen or offer guidance if needed. My goal is for you to feel well looked after.

As a non-medical professional, I work alongside your team to support clear communication and informed care, but I don't speak directly to your medical team on your behalf or provide medical advice.  I can offer education, share resources, and make referrals to trusted providers when needed.

In an ideal world, yes.  But sometimes you find me after the baby comes and that's okay too.  The important thing is you get the support you need.  Before contracting with any family, I do require an in-home visit either for the interview and/or contract signing.  It's best to know where I'm going and the layout of the home, so if hired I don't get lost or have to ask a lot of questions on the first visit.

This depends on your family's preferences.  I ask that the non-birthing partner reach out to me via text within 24hrs of the birth to let me know the baby is here. I recommend starting services within the first 3-5 days of being home.  The postpartum period is generally the first 12 weeks after the baby is born.  Exceptions can be made for premature babies and/or babies with lengthy NICU stays.  The length of services depends on the contract agreement, typically anywhere from 4-12 weeks.

I am fully vaccinated and require all members of the households I work in to be vaccinated. This helps protect all the vulnerable newborns I work with. This policy ensures a safer environment for both babies and families during our time together.

Yes, once a contract is signed.  You can email me questions at lisa.greenman@supportisontheway.com.

My current rate is $40 per hour, which is worked into 4 different package options.  I require a deposit of $250 when you sign on, which will be put towards your final package payment at the end of contracted services.  At this time, I am unable to offer insurance coverage, private pay only.
